Educational Qualification
A U.G. degree in the subject you want to teach (the Part-III major subject), under the 10+2+3 pattern, from a recognized university.
Economics, Commerce and Political Science need a P.G. degree in the same subject with at least 50%. B.E./B.Tech graduates need 55% and can take Mathematics, Physical Science, Computer Science or Biological Science as their branch allows.
Candidates appearing for final year exams may also apply provisionally.

Merit Ranking
Applicants are ranked on their degree marks, with weightage for a higher degree and for NSS / NCC / sports at U.G. level, as the 2026-27 Tamil Nadu B.Ed guidelines (G.O.(D) No.144) require. There is no entrance test.
Seat Allotment
Seats are confirmed in merit order. Choose your B.Ed teaching subject from the 10 teaching subjects, in line with your degree subject and the seats available.
Admission Confirmation
Complete admission formalities including fee payment, hostel booking (if needed), and orientation. Collect your ID card and class schedule.
Government or Self-Financing B.Ed in Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu has two separate B.Ed admission routes and they do not share an application form. Applying to both is normal and costs you nothing.
Government and government-aided colleges of education
The Government of Tamil Nadu runs this route through its own B.Ed admission process. You apply to the state, not to an individual college, and seat allotment happens centrally.
